Sending Us a Title Request

This walks through sending one title and registration request to us, and what happens to it afterwards.

Your Florida registration has to be finished first. It is what lets us look the vehicle up with the state, which is the first thing a request does — so if it is outstanding, Tag & Title says so and links you to the page that fixes it before you can start a request. It is the same registration you use to issue temporary tags.

The tag agency authorization does not have to be. Send the request, and we will prepare everything right up to the point of filing. What we cannot do without your notarized authorization is present the paperwork at the tag agency — so if it is still outstanding, finish it while we prep.

Open Tag & Title and use Finish agency setup to see what is missing: a verified dealer license, the signing person’s driver license, and the notarized authorization. Each one links to the page that handles it.

From the dashboard, open Tag & Title and start a new request. If the car is already in a deal jacket, start from the deal — the vehicle, buyer and lienholder details carry over and you do not retype them.

The request walks through the vehicle, the buyer and any co-buyer, the lienholder if the deal is financed, what kind of title work it is, and how you want the plate and title handled. Answer what you know; you can leave and come back, and it saves as you go.

The request asks how the finished paperwork comes back to you, and offers to move the job to the front of the line. Both add a line to the quote — the review screen shows them before you commit.

Before you submit, you see the fees broken out — what the state charges, and our service fee. This is the moment to check the numbers, because the sales tax depends on details like the buyer’s address that are easy to get wrong.

Submitting sends the request to us, and two things happen at once: we email your buyer their signing packet, and a deal jacket is created for the request if there was not one already.

You can still change the details afterwards — the request keeps an Edit request button while we are waiting on your paperwork. Once we start working it, that button goes away and the page tells you to contact us instead. Check the numbers now anyway: a change after we have filed at the agency means a second set of state fees.

The request lists the physical documents we need — the title, the bill of sale, any lien release. Mail them or drop them off as the request tells you. Nothing can be filed until the paperwork physically arrives; this is the step that most often holds a request up.

Open Tag & Title and click the request. The status tells you where it is: waiting on documents, with us, at the agency, or complete. You can also just ask the assistant — “where is my title on the blue Silverado” — and it will read the request and tell you.

What you owe and where the request is in the process are tracked separately, on purpose. A request can be submitted and owe nothing yet, and one that has been completed can still have a balance if a state fee came back higher than quoted. If there is a balance, it shows on the request and you can pay it from there.

If a fee comes back lower than quoted, the difference goes back to you automatically. We never charge more than the quote without telling you first.

While we have not started working the request, Cancel request on the request page cancels it outright and returns everything you paid on it. Once we have started, that button is gone and cancelling is a conversation — and any work already done at the agency is still yours to cover.

Tell us before it is filed if you can — a correction before filing is a conversation, and a correction after filing is a second trip to the agency and a second set of state fees. Use Support from the dashboard, or the assistant’s “Talk to our team” option.
