Obtaining Temporary Tag Paper
Temporary tag paper is what a temporary tag is printed on, and every sheet carries a control number. You cannot issue a temporary tag without an available control number, so running out stops you selling. This article covers ordering paper, watching your stock, and setting up an automatic reorder so you do not run out in the first place.
Where your stock lives
Section titled “Where your stock lives”Settings → Billing → Inventory Management, on the Temp Tags tab.
Total Available is the number of unused control numbers you hold. Below it, each set you have been sent is listed by type — Regular Tags or Motorcycle Tags — with its own Available count and the date it was assigned. Every control number in the set is shown as a card, and a crossed-out number is one that has already been used on a registration. Show Used starts switched on; turn it off if you would rather see only the numbers you have left.
The same number is in the header of every page, beside your credit balance: a small tag icon with your available count next to it. It turns red when you are running low, and it links straight to this page.

What you are buying
Section titled “What you are buying”Order temp tags takes you to the Store, where the tag paper sits alongside the rest of the dealer supplies. The catalog is the authority on what is available and what it costs, so this article does not list either — open it and look.
What is worth knowing before you pick:
- Regular and motorcycle paper are different stock, and they are not interchangeable. A motorcycle control number will not be offered to you on a car, and a regular one will not be offered on a motorcycle. If you sell motorcycles, order both.
- The paper is waterproof and thick, and it comes with the tag’s boxes already printed on it. Your printer only adds the tag number, your dealership details, the VIN, the color and the expiration date.
- It is sold in fixed increments, with a minimum order. The quantity control steps in those increments, and a figure typed in between is rounded up to the next valid one, so you cannot accidentally order a quantity we cannot ship.
Step by step
Section titled “Step by step”Open Store from the sidebar, or Order temp tags from Inventory Management. Pick the paper you want, set the quantity, and Add to Cart. The Cart shows the subtotal, shipping and total; Proceed to Checkout from there.
Check where it is going
Section titled “Check where it is going”Checkout prefills your dealership’s mailing address and a contact phone number. Change either if this order should go somewhere else.
Place the order
Section titled “Place the order”Place Order deducts the total from your credit balance. If something is stopping the order, the button says which — not enough credits, an unverified dealer license, a missing enrollment, an address we cannot ship to — rather than just refusing.
If you change your mind, contact support before the order ships — an order we have not sent yet can usually be canceled and the credits put back.
Watch it arrive
Section titled “Watch it arrive”Store → Orders lists your current and past orders with their status, and the tracking number once one exists.
Order before 2:00 PM Eastern on a business day and it goes out the same day; after that, the next business day. It ships from our Miami, Florida warehouse, so a Florida address usually sees it in 1–2 business days — the further away, the longer it takes. These are typical times, not guarantees. Start using it
Section titled “Start using it”When we process the order you get an email listing the control numbers assigned to you. From that moment they are live: they appear in Inventory Management and they are selectable on the Tag step of a temporary tag registration.

These control numbers are available immediately for your dealer's use when issuing temporary tags in the registrations system. You'll receive emails from orders@mydealerjacket.com with shipping updates for the blank temporary tags.

You will also get shipping updates separately as the paper makes its way to you — the numbers are usable before the paper arrives, but you obviously cannot print on paper you do not have yet.
Never running out: Auto-Order
Section titled “Never running out: Auto-Order”On the same Temp Tags tab, Auto-Order Temp Tags checks your stock each time you issue a registration, and places an order if you have fallen below a number you set.
Two things follow from that, and both matter:
- It only ever fires while you are actually issuing tags. If you stop issuing for a fortnight — which is exactly when a low pile sits unnoticed — nothing checks.
- It will not place a second order for the same tag type within three days, so it cannot double-order while the first one is in transit.
Treat it as a safety net against running low, not as a substitute for keeping an eye on the number in your header.

Regular and motorcycle tags get their own on/off switch, paper, quantity and threshold. The delivery method and the address are shared — change them and both tag types follow.

After you finish
Section titled “After you finish”Control numbers are picked on the Tag step when you issue a temporary tag — see Creating a Temporary Tag Registration. Only the numbers that match the vehicle are offered: motorcycle numbers on a motorcycle, regular ones on everything else.
