Resetting Your Password

If you cannot sign in because you have forgotten your password, this sets a new one. It happens entirely on one page — there is no link to wait for in an email.

On the sign-in screen, choose Use my password and then Forgot password? under the password box. Your email is carried across, so you do not retype it.

How should we send your code?

Use your passkeySign in with it, then choose a new passwordEmail me a codeWe will send it to maria@sunshineauto.exampleText me a codeTo your phone number ending in 4417
IllustrationHow should we send your code? lists the ways this account can be reached: Use your passkey, whose hint here is Sign in with it, then choose a new password; Email me a code, naming the address; and Text me a code, naming the last four digits of the phone. There is no password option, for obvious reasons. Above the list, Resetting the password for names the address with a Change link beside it.

Only what your account can actually reach is listed. If you picked a code, the next screen asks for it — the same Check your email or Check your phone screen you get when you sign in with a code, with Didn’t receive a code? and Resend under it.

Use your passkey is the shortcut: it signs you in, and you set the new password from your settings without proving anything again.

Choose a new password asks for it twice — New password and Confirm new password — and Show passwords reveals both, which beats guessing at a mismatch. At least 8 characters. Then Save new password.

If you were signed in anywhere else, the last screen asks Sign out your other devices? and tells you how many there are.

  • Sign out other devices if there is any chance somebody else got into your account. This is the thing that removes them.
  • Keep them signed in if you simply forgot your password. The phone in your pocket and the computer at the office stay as they were.
